“Society of Women bearing salves....â€
(Djamiat hamilat al-tieb جمعية Øاملات الطيب)
This society attends to single woman, orphaned girls and widows. They are taught how to sew and embroider traditional Palestinian dresses. They also
receive medical care. I was able to obtain 12 reconditioned mechanical sewing machines for them, bought their dresses and managed to sell them on their behalf. I also acquired used lab equipment for blood tests and
approx. 80 kilograms of medicines. These were bundled into packets of 500 grams each and were brought to Jerusalem by several groups of pilgrims. In this way this social institution could be visited and supported by
different groups of pilgrims.
